Success of Cafe Scientifique June 18, 2010

Posted by qmresearchers in Uncategorized.

This is a quick note to say thank you to all the researchers that attended Cafe Scientifique on Monday. The event was a huge success with around 50 researchers attending from both science and engineering as well as the humanities and social sciences.

The first talk from Helene Muller (SBCS) was a very interesting look into the sex lives of various species of animals. Highly entertaining! The second talk from Tom Sebrell highlighted the US’s  fascination with the American Civil war and finally John Broad talked about translational medicine. The talks were broken up with various quizes to stretch the grey matter .

There was lots of free food, drink, fun and laughter. Kevin Byron from ESD did a fabulous job of being ‘the host with the most.’ Thanks also to Helene Muller who designed the poster for the event.

We are running a series of Cafes so watch this space for the next one. Also, send any suggestions or bright ideas for future Cafes to me on t.j.bussoli@qmul.ac.uk.
