Next Wednesday 21st April is a very important day if you are a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher that is serious about becoming an academic.

Dr. Ian Forristal has organised a Fellowship Day between 12.00 and 18.00 on Wednesday 21st April in the Skeel/PP1/PP2 Lecture Theatre and Peoples Palace foyer, Mile End. There will be respresentatives from The Wellcome Trust, EPSRC, The Royal Society, MRC, BBSRC and Leverhulme talking about writing fellowship applications.

To make the move from a postdoctoral position to a lecturer it is extremely important to illustrate that you can successfully write grant applications and obtain money from funding bodies. Applying for fellowships from organisations such as those attending the Fellowship day is one of the key ways to move from junior research positions (e.g. postdoctoral positions) to more senior academic positions (e.g. lecturer).
